FORT KNOX, Ky. –
Sgt. 1st Class Reginald Johnson, a Miami native, serves as a Recruiter at the Park North Recruiting Station in San Antonio, Texas. The United States Army Recruiting Command leadership recently recognized him as one of the standout performers in the command.
In 2010, Johnson joined the U.S. Army as a 92F Petroleum Supply Specialist. One motivating factor for Johnson when he was considering joining the Army was to change his scenery, travel the world, and ultimately challenge himself as a young man.
“I continue to serve in the Army to make a difference in the lives of others and to take advantage of the opportunities the U.S. Army provides.” Johnson said.
Johnson began a journey of higher learning after receiving his associate’s degree in computer studies from the University of Maryland in 2019. Since then, he has earned his bachelor’s degree in leadership and interdisciplinary skills from Trident University Internation in June 2023, his Six Sigma Green Belt Technical Certification from Austin Peay State University in May 2024, and is currently pursuing his Master of Science degree in acquisitions and contract management at the University of Maryland with a graduation date of December 2025.
“My biggest goal that I look forward to accomplishing is completing my master’s degree, and to earn a first sergeant position in an operational unit.” Johnson said.
During his transition to serving as a Recruiter for USAREC in August 2022, Johnson looked forward to many new aspects of his Army journey. While serving as a USAREC Recruiter, Johnson was awarded the Multifunctional Logistics Noncommissioned Officer Personnel Development Skill Identifier from the U.S. Army Sustainment University in 2024.
“Working for USAREC gave me the flexibility to spend time with my family while connecting with and impacting individuals within the community.”
Johnson attributes his success within the Army and USAREC to his faith, his family, and his fellow Soldiers.
“I attribute my success to my faith in God, my family, and the leaders and Soldiers that helped shaped me into the man and leader I am today.” Johnson said.
When not Recruiting, Johnson enjoys traveling, community involvement, DIY projects, rooftop lounges, reading, fitness, and spending time with family.
