He was recently recognized by Maj. Gen. Johnny Davis, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command for his outstanding performance.

Salas began his Army career as a Logistics Specialist, where he honed skills in managing logistics operations— skills that proved invaluable as he later became the Deputy Station Commander at the Mechanicsburg Recruiting Station. During his time as a 92A, Salas deployed to Afghanistan and Africa, supporting crucial operations and gaining experience.

“What drives me every day to share my experience with others is the transformation the Army has made in my life. When I first joined, I never imagined how much it would change me. From not having a home, to now owning two properties, from a high school education to achieving a bachelors’ degree and currently working towards my master’s. These milestones are a direct result of the opportunities the Army has given me. The Army has also provided me with a chance to travel the world and meet extraordinary people in our ranks. I want others to see that the Army isn’t just about serving, it’s about unlocking opportunities for personal growth, education and life changed experiences. What the Army did for me, it can do for others too.”

Staff Sgt. Salas continues to embody the Army’s core values of leadership, service, and dedication. As he shares his journey with Future Soldiers, he remains committed to inspiring Future Soldiers and Soldiers alike, to reach their full protentional. For Salas, every Soldier represents an opportunity to change life, just as the Army changed his.
