Meet your 420T – Warrant Officer Jordon Durham

By Sgt. 1st Class Eric Johnson USAREC Public Affairs Office

The Army’s recruiting transformation is underway as the first cohort of Talent Acquisition Technicians (420T) graduated from the recently developed Army course July 11, at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Warrant Officer Jordon Durham, a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, is one of 25 warrant officers who graduated. All the recent graduates had different motivating factors for why they wanted to be a part of the Army’s newest Military Occupational Specialty.

“My motivation came from wanting to be more,” Durham said.  “You see so many people serve and do their part for the country. I wanted to do the same and use that motivation to strive to newer heights.”

Prior to becoming a mobility warrant officer, Durham was a Recruiter for five years. During his time as a Recruiter, he successfully enlisted 180 people into the Army and earned the gold Recruiter badge. Although Durham enjoyed being a mobility warrant officer, he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give back to the Army recruiting mission.

“I enjoyed the strategic planning process and movement coordination of being a mobility warrant officer,” Durham said.

He can use his experience in strategic planning and his prior recruiting successes to drive him in this new position. His desire to be a part of big change in the Army will bring value to his next assignment and to the Army’s recruiting mission.

The Talent Acquisition Technicians went through 10 weeks of training. The course included two weeks of fundamental human resources classes at the Adjutant General School at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and eight weeks of data analytics, public relations, marketing, and recruiting fundamentals at Fort Knox. .

Being back in U.S. Army Recruiting Command allows him to continue to change young men and women’s lives to eventually develop outstanding leaders. Durham wants to provide future Soldiers with the career and education opportunities the Army has provided him.

“I have a bachelor’s degree in education and currently pursuing an MBA in Transportation and Logistics Management,” Durham said.

Durham has big goals for the rest of his Army career and is ready to get out to the recruiting force to serve as a 420T.

“I am looking forward to finishing my master’s degree and strive to become a chief warrant officer 5 within USAREC, and continue to shape recruiting operations,” Durham said.

Durham attributes his successful Army career to the support he has from his family.

“I feel my family gives me the motivation I need to become a better person and leader,” Durham said. “My family tells me when I’m right but also tells me when I’m wrong. That helped me develop a mindset to never give up and to continue pursuing my goals.”

In Durham’s downtime he enjoys working out, working on cars and anything competitive.
