FORT KNOX, Ky. –
Sgt. 1st Class Mohamed K. Kaba, a native of Conakry, Guinea, serves as a recruiter with the Hempstead Recruiting Station in Hempstead, New York. Kaba recently attended the Top 13 Recruiter ceremony, for the second time, as one of the 1st Brigade top recruiters.
Kaba began his career with the U.S. Army as a Logistics Specialist, where he distinguished himself as a Soldier. After his time serving as a logistics specialist, Kaba volunteered for recruiting duty.
“Serving as a recruiter is the best way to give back to America,” Kaba said. “For all the things this country has done for me and my family.”
Winning the Fiscal Year 2024 Top 13 Recruiter is not the first success under Kaba’s belt, he also won the Top 13 Recruiter for fiscal year 2019. In addition to being a top recruiter, Kaba pursued his civilian education and has obtained two Master’s degrees in Law, and his awards include the Army Meritorious Medal (two oak-leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (three oak-leaf clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (1 silver and 2 bronze oak-leaf clusters), the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (with numeral 3), the Army Good Conduct Medal (4), the Meritorious Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. Once becoming a recruiter, Kaba has also been awarded the Gold Badge, a second recruiting ring, and the Glen E. Morrel Award.
Kaba has begun the process of training to compete and be selected for the Audie Murphy Club and has the long-term goal of completing a 3rd master’s degree in international relations and get promoted to Master Sgt. When he is not recruiting, Kaba enjoys playing sports, traveling, reading, and supporting local nonprofit organizations for children in Guinea.
