FORT KNOX, Ky. –
Staff Sgt. Daniel Parks, a native of Claremont, California, is no stranger to military service, having both his parents serve in the armed forces.
Parks joined the U.S. Army as an armament electrical avionic systems repairer after the recession hit in 2008. Since then, he has been devoted to the task at hand.
“My entire career has been motivated by accomplishing the mission, no matter the costs, no matter what that mission is,” Parks said. “I would do anything I can to ensure I facilitate the needs of the organization I work for. I have always felt responsible to serve my country and be part of something greater than myself. I am serving, contributing my part to protect my nation and family, and inspiring future generations to do the same.”
Parks currently serves as a recruiter with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. U.S. Army Recruiting Command leadership recently recognized him as a top performing recruiter.
“My unit has changed my life, taught me a lot, and helped me achieve things that I did not previously think were possible,” Parks said. “I am grateful for that and being a recruiter for the unit is one of the best ways I can both say thank you to the organization that has supported me my entire career and help Soldiers learn about and join one of the most capable units in the Army.”
Serving several combat tours gave him the opportunity to meet people from many different nations. For him, it was a great way of appreciating their way of life and not taking what is available to the American people for granted.
When not recruiting, Parks likes to play the guitar, learn new things and work on his associate degree in computer science.
“My fondest memory is being awarded the Thai jump wings after doing both Airborne operations and several training operations the Thai Army,” Parks said.
