FORT KNOX, Ky. –
Staff Sgt. Nathan Staskiewicz, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, began his career or love of sports shooting on a 20-degree Nebraska winter morning after his parents took him to the shooting range at 6 a.m.
From that point on, “They did everything they could to make sure I was successful,” Staskiewicz said.
Staskiewicz currently serves as an instructor and shooter with the Army Marksmanship Unit. He won the 2022 United States Practical Shooting Association Multi-Gun Championship in the Tactical Optics Division. U.S. Army Recruiting Command leadership recently recognized him as a top performer.
“I serve in the U.S. Army because I enjoy representing the Army on the national stage as well as increasing lethality across the force,” Staskiewicz said.
He enlisted in the Army as an infantryman because as cliché as it sounds, he really couldn’t see himself doing anything else right out of high school.
“Working in USAREC has afforded me so many opportunities to accomplish both personal and professional goals,” Staskiewicz said. “I have been able to obtain a bachelor’s degree, graduate countless military schools, and travel across the United States representing the Army and training warfighters.”
He looks forward to earning his MBA in finance from Creighton University. He plans to pursue a career in finance and investing after his time in the Army. He already has a bachelor’s degree in occupational education from Troy University.
When not recruiting, Staskiewicz enjoys traveling, golfing, hunting and fishing. He was named the 2019 Marketing and Engagement Brigade Soldier of the Year.
“I attribute my success to my parents and family for always being extremely supportive of me growing up,” Staskiewicz said.
