Army establishes new IT career path

USAREC Public Affairs

The U.S. Army has created a new military occupational specialty for the first time in two years, and it’s no surprise it is technology focused.

The new network communications systems specialist, or 25H, is available to applicants immediately.

The tech job joins others in the Army’s Signal Corps career field and combines several existing 25-series jobs into one.

The new occupation will ensure Soldiers develop a well-rounded skillset and will prepare them to meet the growing demands of operating in an increasingly technology-rich battlespace. After the standard 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training, new 25H Soldiers will undergo 19 weeks of Advanced Individual Training at the U.S. Army Signal Center at Fort Gordon, Georgia.

New recruits choosing to become a network communications systems specialist can receive enlistment bonuses for attending Airborne school, if eligible, in addition to other incentives available at the time of enlistment.
