Nine Soldiers earn Master Recruiter Badge

USAREC Public Affairs

After a week of intense testing, nine recruiting NCOs have emerged as experts in the field and earned the Master Recruiter Badge at U.S. Army Recruiting Command headquarters on Dec. 17.

The following Soldiers demonstrated their expert knowledge and received the badge:

Recruiting and Retention College

  • Master Sgt. James Balog
  • 1st Sgt. Joshua Denman
  • Sgt. 1st Class Carlos Rivera-Colon

2nd Recruiting Brigade

  • Master Sgt. Daniel Jensen
  • Sgt. 1st Class Raul Perezrodriguez

3rd Recruiting Brigade

  • Master Sgt. Robert McBride
  • Master Sgt. Heather Rankin
  • Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Gerber

5th Recruiting Brigade

  • Staff Sgt. Richard Callis

In order to earn the badge, recruiting NCOs must demonstrate knowledge competency through the Master Recruiter Badge Competency Test and then execute hands-on application through graded practical exercises.

Soldiers were evaluated on the following areas:
(1) A written eligibility examination
(2) Development of a plan in support of station operations
(3) Process an enlistment application
(4) Implement a school recruiting program
(5) Conduct prospecting activities
(6) Overcome obstacles
(7) Conducting an Army Interview
(8) Conduct the Occupational Physical Assessment Test
(9) Lead a Future Soldier (Future Soldier Orientation)
(10) Recruiter-centric network examination and community partner event

The Master Recruiter Badge competition began Dec. 13 and continued throughout the week with various tasks and tests to measure how well recruiting NCOs know and perform their jobs. The competition was designed to be challenging, and only those with expert knowledge and skills in the field earn the Master Recruiter Badge.

The first competition was held in September 2014 when 10 recruiting NCOs earned the badge. The nine new badge owners are now part of the 77 total Soldiers who have earned the Master Recruiter Badge.
