Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Ramon M. Dang

Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Ramon M. Dang is native of Pampanga, Philippines and grew up in Waipahu, Hawaii.  He enlisted in the U.S.  Army on August 1996 and attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, Georgia.

He has served in a number of assignments throughout his career including Radio Telephone Operator with the A Co., 100-442nd Infantry Regiment “Go for Broke”, Fort Shafter Flats, Hawaii; Automatic Rifleman, Dragon Gunner, and Team Leader with HHC/B Co., 1-21 Infantry Regiment “Gimlets”, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Weapons Squad Leader, C Co., 2-504th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) “White Devils”, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Senior Drill Sergeant, F Co., 2-58 Infantry Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia; Operations NCO, United Nations Command Security Battalion – Joint Security Area (UNCSB-JSA), Panmunjom, South Korea; Platoon Sergeant, B Co., 1-37 Armor, Fort Bliss, Texas; First Sergeant at the International Special Training Centre (ISTC) Pfullendorf, Germany, HHC, Brigade Support Troop Battalion 173rd, and 54th Engineer Battalion, Vicenza, Italy; G7 Training Operations NCOIC, U.S. Army Africa (USARAF), Vicenza Italy;  Battalion Operations Sergeant Major, 1-509 Infantry Regiment (Airborne) “Geronimo” Fort Polk, Louisiana; and Brigade Operations Sergeant Major Observer Coach Trainer (OCT) and Brigade Operations Sergeant Major, Joint Multinational Training Center (JMRC), Hohenfels Germany.  He has deployed numerous times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Dang’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4th award), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with (6th award), Army Achievement Medal (5th award), Army Good Conduct Medal (9th award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with one campaign stars, Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 5 device, Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 8, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Award.  He also holds Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, German Parachutist Badge (Gold), Drill Sergeant Badge, the order of St. Michael (Archangel), and the Order of St. Maurice (Centurion).

Dang has graduated from the following schools: Air Assault School, Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, and Drill Sergeant School and all the required NCOPDS schools, and the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy (NONRES Class 46/70).
