Staff Sgt. Buckman was born in Leesburg, Virginia in 1995. He spent most of his childhood in Lovettsville, Virginia. Buckman had always envisioned joining the military after shooting alongside the Service Pistol Team as a civilian. On June 7, 2016, Buckman enlisted into the Army and completed Infantry One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, Georgia. After graduating OSUT, he then completed Airborne School and went to Fort Bragg, NC and completed Special Forces Assessment and Selection but was not selected. Buckman was later assigned to The United States Army Marksmanship Unit Service Pistol Team.
Buckman has been with the Army Marksmanship Unit Service Pistol Team for 5 years and has competed in all matches attended by the Service Pistol Team including NRA National Pistol Championship. He has also worked with the Instructor Training Group to instruct Units on short range marksmanship as an assistant instructor.
His awards include the Army Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Ribbon, Global War on terrorism Ribbon, National Defense Ribbon, Airborne Wings, Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge and President’s 100 Tab. Buckman has also completed Special Forces Preparation and Conditioning, Special Forces Assessment and Selection, Bus Driver School, Airborne School, Common Faculty Development Instructor course, and Combat Life Saver Course.
