Welcome to the Salt Lake Recruiting Battalion

Who We Serve

This fiscal year, the Salt Lake Recruiting Battalion’s mission is to enlist more than 2,000 Regular Army and Reserve Soldiers.  The Battalion is composed of more than 300 personnel (military and civilian) organized into six companies and 34 recruiting stations.  Its area of operations spans over 488,856 square miles of the Mountain West to include portions of Utah, Nevada, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, and Arizona.

Mission Statement

The United States Army Recruiting Command recruits Soldiers, both officers and enlisted, to meet the needs of an expeditionary Army, begins the transformation from civilian to Soldier, acts as the Army’s liaison with the American people, and does all with integrity and professionalism that clearly demonstrate the Warrior Ethos and Army Values. We remain relevant and ready to provide the strength for our Army, today and into the future.

Salt Lake City Battalion Priorities

Our three priorities are: Take Care of Our Teammates, Develop Our Team, and Accomplish Our Mission. Taking care of people and training/developing our team will enable mission accomplishment. We expect our teammates to live the Army values with discipline and accountability.

We will Take Care of our Teammates by fostering a safe and positive climate, and by treating each other, and the public, with dignity and respect every day. We will be Positively Intrusive Leaders and take care of Soldiers, Civilian Teammates, Families/Support Networks by intervening early when issues arise (goal is to be preventative). We will enforce Standards, Discipline, and Accountability. We will be positive, have fun, and regularly reinforce the meaningful work that our Soldiers and Civilians are doing.

We will Develop our Team to be competitive team players who take pride in themselves and their service. We will coach, mentor and train our Soldiers and Civilian Teammates to reach their full potential. We will take complete ownership and contribute our skills and abilities to achieve the mission.

We will Accomplish Our Mission by operating with a sense of urgency daily, and by reducing distractions that do not lead to results, readiness, or resilience. We will ensure we adequately equip our teammates with support/resource to execute their assigned mission and ensure all our teammates support the mission. We will develop strong networks and work with our community partners to share the Army’s story. We will be walking billboards and demonstrate the prestige and opportunities the Army has to offer.

New Recruiters: Start Here

The Salt Lake City Recruiting Battalion covers the largest geographic area in the states, consisting of Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Montana and small corner of Oregon and Arizona. Even though there are three major installations in the Battalion's area of operation, most of the recruiting stations are geographically remote from them. In most cases, it will be in recruiter's best interest to live within the recruiting area to which they are assigned. With the work hours in recruiting, travel time to and from work, time should be limited to the least amount possible to provide more quality time spent with the family. For information regarding the Government Leased Housing Program, contact the Facilities Manager at (801) 974-3027 or by e-mailing usarmy.knox.usarec.list.6jbn-s4@mail.mil.

New recruiters will be assigned a sponsor and receive a welcome packet from the Battalion. This packet will provide more information on the assignment and the area. For further information, of if a sponsor was not assigned, contact the Battalion S-1 at (801) 974-9513 or by e-mailing usarmy.knox.usarec.list.6jbn-s1@mail.mil.

Family members may report with new recruiters to the Battalion Headquarters, located at 2830 South Redwood Road Suite B, Salt Lake City, UT 84119.  They will be briefed on all aspects of medical and dental plans and coverage. For information on all aspects of Soldier and Family Assistance, contact the Battalion SFA at (801) 974-9521 or by e-mailing usarmy.knox.usarec.list.6jbn-sfa@mail.mil.

Again, welcome to the 6J Recruiting Battalion.
