Arriving Soldiers

While PCS travel always has many surprises, knowing more about the area and the people you'll be working with can really help. This site is designed to help you familiarize yourself with your new community and enable you to contact your commander and 1st Sergeant.

Please call our S-1 staff at 602-254-1739 with questions regarding in-processing or your orders.  In-processing begins at 0800; report to the Battalion BEFORE reporting to your Place of Duty.  

If there is a delay in the shipment of your household goods, please see your Recruiting Company Headquarters for use of lending closet items, such as pots, pans, dishes, and small appliances.  You are welcome to bring your spouse for in-processing.  We are able to reimburse you for child-care expenses if you and your spouse both come to in processing.  Please contact the Soldier and Family Assistance Program Manager, for more information.

COMMANDER'S WELCOME LETTER TO NEWLY ASSIGNED PERSONNEL

Welcome! Congratulations on your assignment to the Phoenix Recruiting Battalion. As the Battalion Commander LTC Brandon Oliveira, I would like to welcome you and your family to our organization. We are 1 of 6 Battalions within the 5th Recruiting Brigade.

Our mission is to recruit high quality men and women into the Regular Army and Army Reserve in Arizona and New Mexico. I hope that every day you are able to come to work knowing that you make a difference in the lives of many of our Nation's finest people, and I ask  you to perform your duties at the highest level in keeping with the Army Values of:  Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.

Arizona and New Mexico are great places to call home. They offer an array of beautiful scenery, social, commercial, education services and exciting activities for service members and their families.

I also encourage you to get involved in your Family Readiness Group and all the community opportunities available to your family during your time here.

In-Processing Checklist

 

Reporting Instructions      

1.  Report to the Battalion Headquarters located at 4000 N Central Ave, Floor 21, Phoenix, AZ 85012.

2.  Ensure you contact your sponsor, and your Station Commander (if applicable).  And if applicable, give your 1SG a courtesy call to introduce yourself.

3.  In-processing is conducted Monday thru Friday starting at 0800.  Expect in-processing to take all day, so please make necessary arrangements as appropriate.  The uniform is Multi Cam.

4.  All Soldiers will be weighed before being signed in.  Failure to meet HT/WT standards will result in adverse action.

5.  Contact the S1 at 602-254-1739 to let the S1 know what day you plan on arriving.

6.  Family members are more than welcome to attend in-processing.  We are able to reimburse you for child-care expenses if you and your spouse both come to in processing. 

7.  Do not hesitate to contact the S1 if you have any questions or concerns.

You must bring the following items with you at the time you in process:

  • PCS orders and any amendments to these orders
  • Original DA 31 (leave form)
  • Finance packet to include advance travel receipts (manila folder)
  • DD 1561 Request for Family Separation Allowance
  • MOS orders (provided by the Army Recruiter School)
  • Army Recruiter Course (ARC) graduation certificate
  • Vehicle registration (if you have two vehicles)
  • Information necessary to update DD 93 and SGLI
  • Military 201 file: 2A, 2-1, promotion packet (if applicable)
  • Last NCOER
  • Military ID card
  • Civilian and military drivers license
  • Reenlistment card
  • Quarters termination sheet if you lived in government quarters
  • OIF's if you have reintegration certification please bring with you
  • MEDPROS Update

It is extremely important you have all the above required documents at the time of your in-processing. This is a large battalion. You may have a long drive back to your pinpoint assignment if you forget any of these documents. In-processing must be completed on the day you arrive at the battalion.

Family Services

 

If you are moving here from previous recruiting assignment, you are already used to the unique Army lifestyle. However, if you are new to recruiting, you will find this Army assignment is unique in many way; one we hope you will enjoy and into which you can easily transition.
