1st Recruiting Brigade "The VICTORY BRIGADE"
Our Mission
Team “Victory” conducts recruitment operations during FY19 to enlist the highest qualified men and women into the Active Army and the U.S. Army Reserve in order to sustain a professional, all volunteer force ensuring the security and readiness of our nation.
Our Job
The 1st Recruiting Brigade, located at Fort George G. Meade, Md., is one of six brigades in the U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC). The Brigade consists of eight recruiting battalions, 50 companies, one European detachment, 149 recruiting centers, and around 2,200 personnel, both military and civilian. All of which are located in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.
We recruit qualified young men and women for the Regular Army, Army Reserve, Officer Candidate School, Army Chaplain Corps, Warrant Officer Flight Training, and various other Military Occupational Specialties, such as band, linguist, and Special Forces.
Our History
Prior to October 1964, the U.S. Army Northeast Region Recruiting Command (USANERRC) was an activity under the jurisdiction of the recruiting commanding general, First United States Army. In 1964, USANERRC was reformed as part of USAREC and consisted of 12 Army Recruiting Main Stations (RMS). Each RMS consisted of a recruiting element and an Armed Forces Examining and Entrance Station (AFEES). In June 1965, USAREC was reorganized to provide a separation of recruiting responsibilities from the examining, induction and processing procedures. The Northeast region was re-designated the U.S. Army 1st Recruiting Brigade Oct. 1, 1983.
