FORT KNOX, Ky. –
Sgt. 1st Class Mark Moore, station commander of the Troy Recruiting Station, Cleveland Recruiting Battalion, has been named the 2025 Station Commander of the Year by the U.S. Army’s 3rd Recruiting Brigade.
Moore was selected for his exceptional leadership, consistent mission success, and ability to connect with diverse communities. He will now represent the brigade at the U.S. Army Recruiting Division level competition.
3rd Brigade Command Sgt. Major Jason Schwartz thinks that Moore is just the type of person who could claim the top honors. Schwartz shared, “Sgt. 1st Class Moore’s steadfast commitment to mission success, mentorship, and team development has elevated his station to new heights. His leadership fosters a culture of professionalism, resilience, and results-driven excellence that inspires all who serve alongside him.”
Moore said he enjoys the dynamic nature of recruiting, which keeps each day fresh and challenging.
“One day could consist of a school assembly, and the next could require me to retrieve medical/pharmacy records, then the next day I’m meeting with the local Chamber of Commerce. There’s a different objective each day!”
Moore credits his success to his ability to relate to people from all backgrounds and inspire them to consider the Army as a way to achieve their goals.
“[I think what helps make me a good recruiter is] my ability to relate to a variety of demographics and excite them about choosing the Army,” he said.
Moore said his favorite part of serving in the Army is the people.
“There are so many amazing people in the Army that inspire me to strive for excellence in different ways,” he said. “I enjoy [relocating] to new assignments — it gives me a chance to accomplish another challenge.”
He also appreciates that the Army’s emphasis on health and physical well-being have given him an opportunity to lead by example.
“I am happy to have spent all my adult life in a career field that prioritizes fitness and high performance,”
As he prepares to compete at the division level, Moore said he’s excited to continue pushing the standard higher. Brigade leaders share they are confident Moore will continue to excel.
“We’re incredibly proud of Sgt. 1st Class Moore,” said Cleveland Recruiting Battalion Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Burkhammer. “We’re excited to see him compete at the next level.”
