FORT KNOX, Ky. –
Sgt. 1st Class Kiera Lowe, a native of Kissimmee, Florida, was recently selected as a top 13 station commander for Louisville East Recruiting station for the second year in a row.
Lowe’s family motivated her to join the Army, but it was because of her recruiter, retired Sgt. 1st Class Tony Smith, that she has kept the motivation.
“I wouldn’t have committed if I didn’t have a cool recruiter who motivated me. He was fun, honest and is still a great mentor to me today,” Lowe said.
Lowe joined the U.S. Army as a human resource specialist. She enjoyed this career field because it allowed her to help Soldiers.
“I enjoyed being able to help every Soldier in the unit; whether it was professionally or personally,” Lowe said.
While serving, not only has Lowe been a top performing recruiter but she has also completed two college degrees.
“I hold an Associate of Arts in Business Management and a bachelor’s degree in human resources management,” she said.
Lowe continues to serve because it is fun, beneficial for her family, and she enjoys being a part of an organization much bigger than herself. She looks forward to achieving her goal of becoming a sergeant major.
When Lowe is not recruiting, she is an avid volunteer with retired veterans at Brookside Forum. She also enjoys cooking, fashion and traveling with friends and family.
She attributes her success to her vast support system from her family to fellow Soldiers.
“My parents, siblings, husband, children and lastly my Soldiers – they motivate, support, and encourage me to be the best I can be every day,” Lowe said.
