FORT KNOX, Ky. –
The Army invades Miami with a bevy of displays and demonstrations along South Beach for the 2022 Hyundai Air and Sea Show.
Army displays are on the road to Miami for the event. Highlights include a parachute demonstration by the Army Golden Knights. Near the beach, the Army will field 11 displays in semi-trailers, including virtual technology and hands-on exhibits. Key exhibits include the Army Fitness Trailer and a helicopter rescue scenario where participants work together to fly helicopters to douse a forest fire threatening a community.
That’s not all. Attendees can become a Golden Knights thanks to virtual reality technology or test their skills on a virtual rifle range, conducted by the Army Marksmanship Unit. The Golden Knights perform during a slate of aerial demonstrations from 12:45 to 5:30 p.m.
The Miami Air and Sea Show is a key leads generation mechanism for Miami Battalion in addition to providing national level outreach for the Army, according to Naji Shaheed, battalion spokesperson.
The Golden Knights, Army Marksmanship Unit and Mission Support Battalion are part of the U.S. Army Marketing and Engagement Brigade, based at Fort Knox Kentucky. These crack Army demonstration and outreach units crisscross America each year, helping connect America with America’s Army. The outreach efforts support Army recruiting. Many times, contact with the brigade and its assets are the first contact people have with the Army, according to brigade officials.
At this year’s Air and Sea Show, the brigade is rolling out unique assets added to the Mission Support Battalion’s Recruiting Outreach Company. The list includes the Army eSports Trailer, Fitness Trailer and As You Were mobile stage. The Army Marksmanship and Army Parachute Team will also have mobile displays at the event.
Fresh from Rockville in Daytona, the Army “As You Were Band” will perform sets on the beach and meet fans afterwards. Also, members of the Army Warrior Fitness Team, with their own semi, will be on hand to mount displays of strength in the warm Florida Sun. The Army Warrior Fitness team last visited Miami in January for Wodapalooza.
The brigade conducts school visits and a mall display this week as the city prepares to welcome attendees.
