Soldiers, civilians, family members, and leaders from across the western United States came together throughout the week of May 15, 2026, to recognize leadership, celebrate service, and strengthen the bonds that continue to define the 6th Medical Recruiting Battalion during a day of Change of Command events held across the Las Vegas area.

Some officers step forward with promise. Others arrive already shaped by responsibility. 1LT Annie Clouse is firmly the latter.

A future Army physician from the U.S. Army’s Health Professions Scholarship Program has matched into a competitive Urology residency, continuing the Army’s tradition of developing highly trained medical specialists.

The 6th Medical Recruiting Battalion proudly welcomes CPT Claudia Carrazco, who was commissioned into the U.S. Army Reserve as a 66S Critical Care Nurse.

Sgt. 1st Class Noel Riosortiz, a native of Bayamón, Puerto Rico, serves as a medical Recruiter at the Gainesville Medical Recruiting Station in Gainesville, Florida. He was recently recognized by U.S. Army Recruiting Command leadership as one of the command’s standout performers.

"I’ve always said I wanted to take the Medical College Admission Test to figure out what our HPSP applicants go through," said Staff Sgt. Austin Richards, recalling how his journey unfolded from an Army medical recruiter to an Army Health Professions Scholarship Program recipient.

The 6th Medical Recruiting Battalion’s Virtual Recruiting Team (VRT) is proving that recruiting extends beyond the digital space. This week, the team is actively engaging with veterinary professionals at the 2025 Western Veterinary Conference, marking their second consecutive year at one of the largest gatherings of veterinary professionals in the country.

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Mr. Daniel "Danny" J. DuMiller, a beloved member of the 6th Medical Recruiting Battalion and a true patriot who dedicated his life to service. From 2000 to 2023, Danny was a cornerstone of Army recruiting, bringing more than two decades of unwavering commitment, expertise, and heart to the mission. In 2012, he joined the Centurion family, where he became not just a colleague but a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

MAJ Nicolette Cherney, Officer in Charge of the Southern California Physician Recruiting Station, has been selected as one of 50 officers and civilians to attend the highly competitive FY25 AMEDD Iron Majors Week. This honor reflects her exceptional leadership and contributions to Army Medicine.
