Army making moves to replace recruiting IT system

By USAREC PAO USAREC HQ

The U.S. Army is working to acquire and implement a new Army Accessions Information Environment system to streamline the enlistment process.

An evaluation board is currently being conducted to select the most proficient entity for Army accessions with the capability to meet the requirements needed to replace the legacy system.
According to the U.S. Army Accessions Information Environment – Recruiting, the objective is to create an environment where Army recruiters in the field and U.S. Army Recruiting Command leadership can, in real-time, create, access, apply, transport and register information for enterprise-wide use. AIE-R will maximize capabilities in prospecting, interviewing, processing and leading Future Soldiers as well as sustainment.

"AIE-R continues to move forward with help from Training and Doctrine Command, Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems and Contracting Command,” said Master Sgt. Jeffery Crane, AIE-R noncommissioned officer for USAREC. “I am confident that the evaluation board will select the best product for USAREC, and the entire accessions community. I am excited and optimistic about the future, as AIE-R will close the capability gap that our recruiters face daily and empower them to be more effective and efficient."

The AIE-R states that once the system is launched, the goal is to provide a secure, interoperable, mobile-first solution that modernizes and improves systems and information exchanges across all accessions stakeholders, essentially, streamlining information between USAREC, U.S. Army Cadet Command, the National Guard Bureau, U.S. Army Reserve Command, U.S. Military Academy, Department of the Army G-1, Human U.S. Army Resources Command, Center for Initial Military Training, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, and the Army Marketing and Research Group.

"AIE-R is essential to USAREC's mission,” said Brig. Gen. Kevin Vereen, USAREC deputy commanding general for operations. “The Army's senior leadership is committed to this initiative and, once fielded, it should speed the execution of applicants into our Army as well as create tremendous efficiencies for our recruiting force."

The changes include improvements to the automated interest capabilities, unified communications capabilities, integrated advertising and social media capabilities, digital interviewing platform, immersive virtual reality/first person video, small enlistment application, source document capture, e-signature, self-service future soldier information capability and authorized devices.

The project still has to complete the design and testing phase prior to launch. The anticipated prototype contract award date is Dec. 20. The command will continue provide updates on the progress of the project throughout the duration. AIE-R completion is projected for fiscal year 2022; however, as it is developed over time, there will be incremental releases starting in fiscal year 2019.
