Lt. Col. Crystal L. Belew is a native of Chesapeake, Virginia. She attended Radford University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and commissioned as Second Lieutenant through the Reserve Officer’s Training Corps as a Nurse Corps Officer in 2004.
Belew graduated summa cum laude with her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in 2012. She completed the Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist program and received the USUHS Board of Regents Award, Federal Nursing Service Chiefs Award, Military Officers Association of America Outstanding Student Award, USUHS Distinguished Academic Performance Award, and the Dean’s award for Poster Presentation. In 2015, she graduated summa cum laude from The University of Alabama with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice. In 2018, Belew obtained a certificate in the Health Profession Education PhD program. She is certified as an Operating Room Nurse, certified as a Surgical Services Manager, board-certified as a critical care clinical nurse specialist, and certified as a perioperative clinical nurse specialist.

Belew is a graduate of the AMEDD Officer Basic Course, the AMEDD Officer Advance Course, and the Army Command and General Staff College.
Her awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with 2 OLC, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 1 OLC, Army Achievement Medal with 3 OLC, and the NATO Medal.
Belew lives in Louisville with her significant other, Chad Falone, and their Silver Lab, Boomer.
