Command Sgt. Maj. Danielle Balson is a native of Norfolk, Virginia. Balson entered the active Army in June of 2004. After completing Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, SC and Advance Individual Training at Ft. Gregg-Adams she was awarded the MOS 92A (Automated Logistical Specialist). In 2009, she reclassified to 92Y (Unit Supply Specialist). She entered Recruiting Command in April 2011 and in 2013 reclassified to MOS 79R (Recruiter).
Balson’s assignments include: PLL Clerk, Fort Cavazos, Texas, Instructor, Ft. Gregg-Adams, Virginia, Recruiter, Atlanta Recruiting Battalion with duty in Carrollton Recruiting Station, Station Commander, Richmond Recruiting Battalion with duty in Chesapeake Recruiting Station, First Sergeant, Tulsa Recruiting Company, and Operations SGM, Richmond Recruiting Battalion. She has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07 and 07-09.
Balson’s military education includes Basic Combat Training, Automated Logistical Specialist Course, Unit Supply Specialist Course, Warrior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, SAMS-1 Course, Basic Instructor Course, Mobile Retention Course, Combat Lifesavers Course, Army Recruiting Course and Station Commander Course, and First Sergeant Course and Sergeant Major Course. Her civilian education includes a high school diploma, bachelor’s in human resource management and a master’s in business management.
Balson’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (8th Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (6th Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Ribbon. She also has earned the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Drivers Badge.
