Lt. Col. Peter Salfeety hails from Somerville, New Jersey. He first attended the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS) at Ft. Monmonth, NJ; then the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York; where he received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Human Regional Geography and commissioned into the Field Artillery at the rank of Second Lieutenant on the 29th of May 2004.
Salfeety was first assigned to 6-37 FA in Camp Casey, Korea where he served as a Support Platoon Leader and MLRS Firing Platoon Leader. He was then assigned to FIRES Squadron 2CR Vilseck, Germany where served as the Squadron S-1, then deployed to Iraq as the Bravo Battery and later HHB Executive Officer in support of OIF from 2007-2008. Salfeety served as the 6-8 CAV, 4/3ID Task Force FSO and subsequently took Command of Bravo Battery 1-76 FA, 4/3ID in Iraq while in support of OIF/OND 2010-2011. Upon completion of Battery Command, Salfeety was selected for the Eisenhower Leader Development Program (ELDP) then subsequently served as theBattalion Tactical Officer (BTO) at the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS) at West Point, NY.
Following his BTO duties, he attended the Command and General Staff College in Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Upon graduation, Salfeety was assigned as the 3 ABCT, 1CAV Brigade FSO and deployed to Kuwait in support of OSS 2016-2017. He subsequently served as the Battalion S-3 for 2-82 FA before he was selected as the Brigade S-3 for 1st Cavalry Division Artillery. Salfeety was then assigned to 1-30 FAR, 428 FAB where he served as a Field Artillery Captains Career Course instructor from 2019-2021. Subsequently he served as the Professor of Military Science (PMS) and Chair of the Military Science Department at Cameron University, Lawton, OK. In his most recent assignment, Salfeety served as the Battalion Commander for the 2-2 FA Battalion in Ft. Sill, OK. Salfeety possesses a Masters of Art in Organizational Psychology with an emphasis in Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City.
Salfeety's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), the Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (2OLC), the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal (3Star), the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korea Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 5), the Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the Pathfinder Badge.
