Raleigh Recruiting Battalion Command Sergeant Major

Command Sgt. Maj. Alberto Pena

Command Sgt. Maj. Alberto Pena hails from Brooklyn, New York, and embarked on his military career by enlisting in the United States Army. His journey began with Basic Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and continued with Advanced Individual Training at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. 

Pena's first assignment post-training was at Camp Stanley, South Korea. Throughout his career, Pena has held numerous positions, including Senior Power Generation Mechanic at Delta Battery 1-38th Field Artillery in South Korea, Squad Leader at HHC 602nd Aviation Support Battalion, and lead rider for the Fort Sam Houston Caisson Platoon at HHC Garrison, San Antonio. 

Pena's recruiting tenure commenced in 2010 in New York City, eventually leading to roles as Station Commander in various locations, including the Melrose Recruiting Station in the Bronx and the Burlington Recruiting Station. His expertise was further utilized at Fort Meade, Maryland, as an Assistant Operations NCO and later as Company First Sergeant for the Brooklyn South Recruiting Company. Post- Sergeants Major Academy, he served as Operations Sergeant in the Los Angeles Recruiting Battalion. 

Pena's educational achievements include a master’s degree in business administration, ongoing Doctoral studies in Strategic Management, and completion of several military courses such as the Sergeants Major Academy and Army Recruiter Course. His project management skills were honed through a collaboration with Pro-Lean/PCI. 

Pena’s accolades include multiple awards like the Army Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal (3th Award), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (5th Knot), National Defense Service Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (2nd Award, Army NCO Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Ribbon, Gold Recruiter Badge, the prestigious Recruiter Ring, and the Drivers/Mechanics Badge.
