Justin Thomas entered the Army in 2007; and attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he was trained as an Indirect Fire Infantryman.
Thomas has served as a Gunner, Fire Direction Center Computer, Squad Leader, Recruiter, Observer Coach Trainer, and Platoon Sergeant.
His military education includes all Non-Commissioned Officers Education Systems up to the Master Leaders Course. He has completed Air Assault, Rappel Master, FRIES and SPIES Master, Pathfinder, Army Recruiting School, Observer Coach Trainer, Master Driver Trainer, Airlift Planner, and Unit Movement Officer Deployment Planning course. Thomas has an Associate of Arts and is currently pursuing his degree in Business Management.
His previous assignments include the 1st Squadron, 89th Cavalry Regiment; 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment; 1st Squadron, 75th Cavalry Regiment; Gainesville Company, Jacksonville Recruiting Battalion; Panther OCT Team, Joint Multinational Readiness Center; 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment; 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment. Thomas deployed in support of both Operations Enduring, and Iraqi Freedom.
His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (6 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (5 Notches), Expert Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and the Recruiting Badge.
