Command Sgt. Maj. Scott Laczynski was born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 10, 1979, and entered the United States Army on January 17, 2003. He attended Basic Training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri, and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Eustis, Virginia. Throughout his 20- year career, he has served in numerous leadership positions, ranging from Squad Leader, station commander, MEPS Senior Guidance Counselor, company first sergeant and operations sergeant major. In his first year of recruiting, he was awarded Top New Recruiter for the New York City Recruiting Battalion and was immediately placed into the role of station commander. Upon leading three Stations to mission success, he was selected to become a Guidance Counselor for the San Jose MEPS.
In February of 2014, Command Sgt. Maj. Laczynski was assigned to the Guam Recruiting Detachment, where he simultaneously served as the Senior Guidance Counselor, first sergeant, and company commander. He played a vital role in restructuring overseas applicant processing, was subsequently promoted to master sergeant, and was selected to lead the New Orleans Recruiting Company as the first sergeant. He immediately improved production and morale, establishing the New Orleans Company as number 1 of 8 within the Brigade. He went on to serve as the Senior Guidance Counselor of the Fort Lee MEPS, where he was selected as the 1st Recruiting Brigade’s 2020 Guidance Counselor of the year. He was then hand-selected by the Brigade Sergeant Major to serve as the Europe Detachment First Sergeant. He successfully led the top Company within the Brigade before being selected for the Sergeant’s Major Academy. Upon completion of the academy, he served as the operations sergeant major of the Mid-Atlantic Battalion in Lakehurst New Jersey.
His military education includes the DTMS Course, Army Recruiters Course, Station Commanders Course, Warrior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Recruiting Company Commander/First Sergeant Course, Guidance Counselor/Operations Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course and United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Post University and is a Master of Science in Leadership degree from Trident University.
Command Sgt. Maj. Laczynski is decorated with six Meritorious Service Medal, two Army Accommodation Medal, three Army Achievement Medals, six Good Conduct Medals, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with three stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with three device, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Medal. In December of 2008, he was inducted into the Transportation Honorable Order of Saint Christopher and, in April of 2009, the Glenn E. Morrell Award for recruiting excellence.
Command Sgt. Maj. Laczynski believes that his greatest accomplishment is being happily married to his high school sweetheart Agnes for 20 years and he has two amazing children, Angelica and Tyler.
