Command Sgt. Maj. Thomas Kenny enlisted into the United States Army in August 1998 as an Infantryman. Kenny completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, GA.
Kenny has attended the Basic Infantryman’s Course, Primary Leadership and Development Course on the Commandant’s List, Advanced Leader’s Course, Senior Leader Course as the Distinguished Honor Graduate, Recruiting Company Commander and First Sergeant Course, the Sergeants Major Academy on the Commandant’s List, and the Battalion Pre-Command Course. He also completed the Guidance Counselor and Operations Course, Center Leader Course, Army Recruiter Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Air Assault School, Belgium Commando School, and the EMT Basic Course.
Kenny’s assignments include 1st Battalion 4th Infantry Regiment in Hohenfels Germany, 2nd Battalion 502nd Infantry Regiment in Fort Campbell KY, 1st Battalion 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) in Fort Myer VA, Raleigh Recruiting Battalion, James River Company in Richmond Recruiting Battalion, Policy Division at USAREC HQ/G3, Nashville Recruiting Battalion, and the Portland Recruiting Battalion. He has served in various positions from rifleman to Command Sergeant Major.
Kenny’s awards and decorations include: the Meritorious Service Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with seven Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with twelve Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal seventh award, Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Superior Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster, Kosovo Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Gold Recruiting Badge, Recruiter Ring, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Driver’s Badge. He is an inductee of The Glen E. Morrell Order of Recruiting Excellence and is an active member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
