Lt. Col. Timothy Adair was born and raised in Northeast Ohio and graduated from John Carroll University in 2003. He commissioned through the John Carroll University Army ROTC program as a Second Lieutenant Ordnance officer branch detailed to the Infantry.
His operational assignments include 1st Battalion 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Squadron 9th Cavalry Regiment, and 4th Squadron 10th Cavalry Regiment Fort Carson, Colorado; XVIII Airborne Corps and 1st Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) Fort Liberty, North Carolina. He served in Infantry and Logistics leadership and staff positions from platoon leader to battalion executive officer.
Adair’s assignments outside the operational force include working as a Basic Officer Leader Course TAC officer at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia. He has also served two separate assignments as an Observer Coach Trainer at the Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Johnson, Louisiana. He has been assigned as the Logistics Operations Division chief for the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa in Vicenza, Italy since 2019.
His combat experience includes service as a platoon leader deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2005-2006), as a company commander deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2007-2009), and as chief for Base Operations Support-Integrator for Commander US Forces Afghanistan deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Resolute Support (2014).
Adair earned a Bachelor of Arts, Sociology, from John Carroll University (2003), A Master of Public Administration from Central Michigan University (2011) and a Master of Military Arts and Science from the Command and General Staff College (2013). He is a graduate of the Infantry Officers Basic Course (2003), Mechanized Leaders Course (2004), Logistics Officers Captains Career Course (2009), and the Command and General Staff College (2013).
His awards and badges include the Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold), Ranger Tab, Bronze Star Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and other medals and ribbons consistent with his service and experiences.
