Command Sgt. Maj. Darium Thomas is a native of Newellton, Louisiana. He enlisted in the Army in April 1998. He attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Thomas has participated in three deployments to Iraq. During his military career he has served as an Armorer, Section Sergeant, Assistant Station Commander, Station Commander, Senior Master Trainer, First Sergeant, and Operations Sergeant Major. His previous assignments include 226th Quartermaster 3rd Infantry Division Fort Stewart, Georgia and 1st Medical Brigade 13th COSCOM Fort Hood, Texas.
Since entering USAREC in April 2008, Thomas' assignments include Baton Rouge Recruiting Battalion 2nd Brigade and U.S. Army Special Operations Recruiting Battalion Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Thomas' military education includes Airborne School, Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Army Equal Opportunity Leader Course, Army Combat Lifesaver Course, Army Recruiter Course, Station Commander Course, Senior Leader Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course, Instructor Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 71, and Battalion Pre-Command Course.
In addition to his military education, Thomas holds an associate of arts degree in Multi-disciplinary Studies from Grantham University, a bachelor of arts degree in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma, and a master's degree in leadership from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Thomas' awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Basic Recruiter Badge, Gold Recruiter Badge, the coveted Gold Recruiter Ring. He is a member of the Glen E. Morrell Order for Recruiting Excellence and has been awarded the Recruiting Excellence Medallion.
