Sgt. 1st Class Christopher L. Workman is an Instructor / Shooter for the Instructor Training Group with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, Fort Benning, Ga.
Workman graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School in 2003. He served in the 75th Ranger Regiment from May 2009 until July 2020, and has been a member of the Army Marksmanship Unit from July 2020 to present. The following are some highlights over the course of his career.
Workman joined the Army in September 2008 and completed Basic and Infantry Training at Fort Benning, GA. He then completed the Basic Airborne Course and the Ranger Indoctrination Program, and was assigned to B Co, 3/75 in May 2009. Where he served as a Rifle man, Saw gunner, Fire Team Leader. In January 2014 Workman was assigned to 75th RGR RGT, HHC, Battalion Reconnaissance as a Reconnaissance Sargeant. In May 2015 Workman was assigned to 75th RGR RGT, Charlie Company where he served as a Squad Leader and Weapons Squad Leader. In July 2020 Workman was assigned to the Instructor Training Group, USAMU.
Workmans’ schools include: Infantry OSUT, Basic Airborne Course, Ranger Indoctrination Program, Ranger School, Basic Leader Course, S.E.R.E. C, United States Army Sniper School, Reconnaissance Surveillance and Leadership School, Advanced Land Navigation Course, Anti-terrorism Evasive Driving Course, Advanced Leader Course, Maneuver-Senior Leader Course.
His awards include One Joint Service Commendation Medal, One Army Commendation Medal with “V” device, Three Army Commendation Medals, Two Joint Service Achievement Medals, Six Army Achievement Medals, and One Presidential Unit Citation. He has been awarded the Ranger Tab, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge.
