Sgt. 1st Class Michael J. Haggman is a marksmanship instructor for the Instructor Training Group with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, Fort Benning, Ga.
Haggman graduated Fort Myers High School in Fort Myers, FL in 2002. He served with 2nd Infantry Division from January 2009 to January 2013. He was a recruiter from October 2013 to January 2017 with the Paris, TN Recruiting Center. He served with the 2nd Battalion of the 506th Infantry Regiment from January 2017 until April 2019. He also served as a Drill Sergeant from April 2019 to May 2022. He has been a member of Army Marksmanship Unit from May 2022 to present. The following are some highlights over the course of his career.
Haggman joined the Army in September 2008 and completed Basic and Infantry Training at Ft. Benning, GA. He was assigned to A CO, 2-1 INF, 5th SBCT in January 2009. Where he served as Assistant Team Leader and Team Leader. In October 2013 he was assigned to the Paris, TN Recruiting Center where he served as a recruiter. In January of 2017 he was assigned to C CO, 2-506th IN BN where he served as a Squad Leader, Weapons Squad Leader, and Platoon Sergeant. In April 2019 he was assigned to B CO, 1-46 as a Drill Sergeant which later transitioned into a Infantry OSUT. He was assigned in May 2022 to the Instructor Training Group, USAMU.
Haggman’s schools include: Infantry OSUT, Air Assault Course, Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Master Marksmanship Training Course, Recruiting School, Drill Sergeant School.
His awards include: Four Army Commendation Medal, Four Army Achievement Medal, One Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Three Good Conduct Medal, and Three Afghanistan Campaign Medal. He has been awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Air Assault Badge, Recruiting Badge, and Drill Sergeant Badge.
