Sgt. 1st Class William A. Pryor is a Marksmanship Instructor and Team Chief for the Instructor Training Group with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, Fort Benning, Ga.
Pryor graduated from East Robertson High School, Cross Plains, TN in 2007. He served in the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team from November 2009 until June 2013. He served in the 1st Battalion 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment from June 2013 until June 2017. He also served as a Platoon Sergeant in the 3rd Infantry Division from June 2017 until February 2019. He has been a member of the Army Marksmanship Unit from April 2019 to present. The following are some highlights over the course of his career.
Pryor joined the Army in May 2009 and completed Basic and Infantry Training at Fort Benning, GA. He then completed the Basic Airborne Course, and was assigned to C Co, 1/503rd in November 2009. Where he served as a Machine Gun Team Leader, Fire Team Leader, and Rifle Squad Leader. In June of 2013 Pryor was assigned to 1/507th PIR as an Airborne Instructor followed by a Jumpmaster Instructor. In June of 2017 Pryor was assigned to 2-7IN, Ft. Stewart, GA as a Platoon Sergeant. He was assigned in April 2019 to the Instructor Training Group, USAMU.
Pryor’s schools include: Infantry OSUT, Basic Airborne Course, U.S. Army Jumpmaster School, U.S. Army Pathfinder School, Basic Leader Course, Master Marksmanship Training course, Advanced Leader Course, and Senior Leader Course
His awards include The Meritorious Service Medal, Three Army Commendation Medals, Three Army Achievement Medal, One Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Four Good Conduct Medals, and Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars. He has been awarded the Senior Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Order of St. Maurice.
