Staff Sgt. Jarrod McGaffic was born in West Milton, Ohio, and graduated from Milton-Union High School in 2009. He joined the Army National Guard in 2009 and completed basic training and Military Police AIT at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in 2010. He was with the Ohio National Guard from 2010 to 2016 with a deployment to Qatar from 2012 to 2013. He joined the USAMU in 2016 as a gunsmith for the Customs Firearms Shop and later joined the Service Rifle section in 2018.
McGaffic's achievements include earning his Distinguished Rifleman Badge and the Presidents Hundred tab in 2018. McGaffic was also a firing member for the record setting 2020 Interservice 10-man team match, which broke the previous record by 24 points and secured a victory for the Unit. He currently holds the CMP NTI record with a perfect score of 500-24x, which he shot in the 2022 season. He has been a member of several record setting teams and has also secured several other individual records in his shooting career so far.
His military training includes Combat Lifesaver Course (2019), Basic Leadership Course (2018), Advanced leadership course (2020)
His awards include Presidents Hundred Tab, Distinguished Rifleman Badge, Army Accommodation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and the German Armed Proficiency badge.
