Spc. Dustin Carr was born in July 2001 in San Diego, California. He graduated from University City High School in 2020. Carr joined the U.S. Army when he was 20 years old and graduated from Infantry One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia in 2022.
Carr was a competitive service rifle shooter as a civilian, where he set multiple junior national records. His competitive record led to him being recruited by the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit and then became a marksmanship instructor/competitive shooter Service Rifle Team.
Carr earned the President’s Hundred and Distinguished Rifleman’s Badge at the National Matches in 2022. He also earned the NRA Mid-Range Service Rifle Champion and the CMP Long Range Service Rifle Champion titles. Carr was also a firing member of the winning 2022 Interservice 10 Man Team Match.
Carr’s awards include the President’s Hundred Tab, Distinguished Rifleman’s Badge, Silver Excellence in Competition Pistol Badge, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Ribbon, Global War on Terror Ribbon.
