Staff Sgt. William Hinton

Staff Sgt. William Hinton was born in Lawrenceville, GA and graduated from Dacula High School may of 2014. Hinton was an avid sporting clay shooter during this time, winning on a national and international stage. Hinton shot for the Professional Sporting Clays Association, and made two NSCA World Championship Teams, securing team and open medals. Hinton was the 2015 Junior World Fitasc Champion. Hinton at this time was pursuing a Business Bachelor of Arts and grew an interest in competing in Olympic disciplines when he found out about the Army Marksmanship Unit. He pursued 2 years of college at Georgia Gwinnett College before pausing it to join the Army.
Hinton joined the Army in 2016 and completed Infantry OSUT training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was assigned to the USAMU in the Shotgun Section in February, 2017 as a Shooter/Instructor.
Since joining, Hinton has made a name for himself in the International Trap discipline making USA Shooting finals and world level teams. He secured a World Cup mixed
team bronze medal for U.S.A in 2018. Currently Hinton is on the 2022 world team for Peru, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, and Italy World Cups. Hinton is one of the primary shotgun
demonstration shooters illustrating the talent and marksmanship of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit.
Hinton graduated from the following military schools: Infantry OSUT, Fort Benning, GA, Basic Combat Training, Fort Benning, GA, Henry Caro Basic Leaders Course Fort
Benning, GA.
