Sgt. 1st Class Glenn Eller

Sergeant 1st Class Glenn Eller was born in Katy, Texas, and graduated from James E. Taylor High School in 2000.  He continued his education at Auburn University of Auburn, Alabama, and the University of Houston in Houston, Texas.

 

He joined the U.S. Army in 2006 and completed basic and infantry training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was assigned to the USAMU and the Shotgun Team in January 2007 as a shooter/instructor.

 

Eller has a distinguished shooting career and is one of a handful of shooters who has won a gold medal at every major international stage in Men’s Double Trap. He won the Gold Medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and has represented the United States in five Olympic Games. He has also won gold medals at World Championships (2), World Cup Finals (2), World Cups (6), Pan American Games, and Championships of the Americas, in addition to seven U.S. national titles.

 

In 2016, Eller won a Bronze Medal at the Rio de Janeiro World Cup and finished 14th at the Olympic Games. 

 

He was named USA Shooting’s Athlete of the Year in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2008 and 2013. In 2012, Eller deployed to Afghanistan with the USAMU as a marksmanship instructor.

 

 Eller graduated from Maneuver Senior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Warrior Leader Course, Comprehensive Soldier Fitness, Advanced Situational Awareness Course, and Combat Life Saver.

 

His awards include two Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Accommodation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, an Army Service Ribbon, a U.S. International Distinguished Badge, and the Accessions Support Brigade Soldier of the Quarter, Third Quarter, Fiscal Year 2007.
