U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Instructor Training Group

Staff Sgt. Kevin Nguyen

Staff Sgt. Kevin Nguyen is attached to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, Fort Moore, Georgia, has distinguished himself through his many accomplishments.
A native of Westminster, California, Nguyen graduated from Westminster School in 2010 and furthered his education at Goldenwest Community College.
Nguyen enlisted in the Army August 30, 2011. After he completed One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning. Nguyen was stationed at Fort Lewis and assigned to
4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, Comanche Company 1st Platoon.

After 11 months of training upon arrival with his first unit, he was deployed to Afghanistan and served in OEF 12-13. Only three months into his tour, Nguyen was struck by a pressure plated IED while on dismounted foot patrol. After being medevac out of Afghanistan, he spent the next two years recovering at the Warrior Transition Unit (WTU) at the San Diego Naval Medical Hospital. Upon the completion of his recovery, he was able to continue on active duty as a COAD (Continuation of active duty), and later assigned to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit November 1, 2014. Nguyen later PCS’d to Fort Carson in March 2017 and was assigned to the World Class Athlete Program.

Nguyen continued to train and shoot alongside his teammates at the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. Staff Sgt. Nguyen is currently an instructor with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit's Instructor Training Group.

Nguyen went to One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning GA in 2011. SSG Nguyen attended both the Warrior Leader Course (WLC) in 2015 and the Infantry
Advanced Leader Course (ALC) in 2017 at Fort Benning Georgia.
