3rd Recruiting Brigade Command Sergeant Major

Command Sgt. Maj. Hilda Garcia

Hailing from Brooklyn, NY and proud of her Dominican heritage, Command Sgt. Maj. Hilda Garcia brings to the 3rd Recruiting Brigade over 25 years of military experience. She began her service career as Reservist, completing Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, VA before attending Brooklyn College and processing to active duty.

Her early assignments include: 194th BN- Camp Humphreys, Republic of South Korea; 32nd MEDLOG- Ft. Bragg, NC; 27th MSG- Fort Hood, TX; 520th MAINT CO– Camp Humphreys; 204th, 306th, and 111th MI BNs- Fort Huachuca, AZ.

She reclassified to 79R to serve as a Recruiter in San Juan CO, Miami BN, then a Career Counselor at 2nd Rec. BDE (Ft. Gillem, GA). Subsequent assignments include: Station Commander- Miami Recruiting CO; Recruit the Recruiter NCO- USAREC HQ; 1SG - Louisville CO; SR Master Trainer – 3rd Rec. BDE; multiple assignments including 1SG- Recruiting and Retention College; OPS SGM- Rancho CO; CSM- Phoenix Rec. BN; and finally, OPS SGM- 5th Rec. BDE.

She was selected to attend the University of North Carolina Institute for Defense and Business to participate in the Strategic Studies Fellowship Program where she graduated as a strategist. Her additional civilian education includes both a bachelor’s and MBA in Market and Business Management. She has completed Army Recruiting School, Noncommissioned Officer PME courses, Recruiter Trainer Course, Station Commander Course, First Sergeant and Recruiting First Sergeant Courses, Advanced Joint Professional Military Course, and the Master Resilience Trainer Course. 

Her awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (7 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (6 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), and the Army Superior Unit Award.  She has earned the Gold Recruiter Badge, been awarded the Glenn E. Morrell medallion and ring and has been inducted into the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
