Spc. Jesse Coleman was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a part of the graduating class of 2014 at William Tennent High school. He enlisted into the United States Army as an infantryman on December 2014. He completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. In May of 2018, immediately following AIT, Specialist Coleman attended Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia. Then, he was assigned to the 1-509th BN, Bravo Company in Fort Polk, Louisiana where he served as a SAW gunner and a rifleman. After several rotations with the 509th, he was promoted from private first class to specialist. Following this assignment, he was selected to be one of fifteen athletes of the U.S. Army Warrior Fitness Team, where he is currently stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Coleman has maintained an active lifestyle since childhood. In high school, he competed in Cross Country and Wrestling. In 2013, he qualified for the PIAA Cross Country State Championships after running his fastest 5k time of 16:15. Additionally, he competed in and won various tournaments in jiu jitsu. In 2015, Coleman started training in CrossFit and that has remained his passion ever since. His love for fitness motivated him to seek out further education, and in 2017 earned his CrossFit Level 1 Certification. Since 2016, he has been on the podium for multiple CrossFit competitions where he competed as both an individual and part of a team.
Coleman’s education includes an Associates degree in Business Administration and Basic Airborne Course.
His awards and decorations include an Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.
