Col. Lee D. Monzon serves as the commander of the 3rd Recruiting Brigade. Monzon commissioned as a military police officer in 2005 through the Army ROTC program at the University of Alaska -Fairbanks. He recently served as the V Corps protection chief and provost marshal.
Monzon previously commanded the 93rd Military Police Battalion while also serving as the director for emergency services for Fort Bliss, Texas. During this command, he deployed the battalion headquarters and six companies as a Southwest Border Task Force in support of Joint Task Force-North and the U.S. Border Patrol.
He also served as the Army North (5th Army) Provost Marshal Protection Directorate Operations Division chief and operations officer at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Before his assignment at Army North, Monzon was assigned to the Joint Staff in the National and Nuclear Command, Control and Communications Division, Deputy Directorate for Nuclear and Homeland Defense Operations J-36 in Washington, D.C.

His military education includes the Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania; Command and Staff College at Marine Corps University in Quantico, Virginia; and the Military Police Officer Basic and Captain’s Career Courses at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, a master's degree in military strategic studies from the Army War College and a master's degree in military studies from the Marine Corps University.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Joint Staff Identification Badge, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).
Monzon is married to Stephanie Monzon, and they have two children, Madeline and Hunter.
