Command Sergeant Major Marcos Vazquez is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and enlisted in the United States Army in 2003 from Carolina, Puerto Rico within the Miami Recruiting Battalion footprint he now proudly returns to as its incoming Command Sergeant Major.
Throughout his career, CSM Vazquez has served in key leadership positions across the United States Army Recruiting Division, including Station Commander, First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant Major, and most recently as the Command Sergeant Major of the Los Angeles “Roughriders” Recruiting Battalion. He deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and later served in Afghanistan training and advising the Afghan National Army.
CSM Vazquez holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Strategic Organizational Leadership and is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. His awards and decorations include multiple Meritorious Service, Joint Service, Army Commendation, and Army Achievement Medals, as well as the Iraq and Afghanistan Campaign Medals. He is an inductee of the Glen E. Morrell Order of Recruiting Excellence and a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Association.
CSM Vazquez leads with three priorities: Care - putting people first; Lead - developing disciplined and capable leaders; and Invest - aligning personal goals with organizational success. He remains relentlessly committed to excellence and to serving the Soldiers, families, and communities of the Miami Recruiting Battalion.
