Command Sergeant Major Jason L. Besmer is a native of Orleans, Nebraska. He entered the Army on June 20, 2000. He completed Initial Active-Duty Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He is currently the senior enlisted leader of the United States Army's Milwaukee Recruiting Battalion. He is married to his wife, Megan and together they are the parents of Lilli-ann, Cy, and Cameron.
His assignments include 377th Transportation Company of the 181st Transportation Battalion Mannheim, Germany; C Co. of the 2/377th Regiment Lincoln, NE; Denver Recruiting Battalion with duty at Lincoln, NE; Portland Recruiting Battalion with duty at Canby, OR and Oregon City, OR; SMU Fort Bragg, NC; HQ, Atlanta Recruiting Battalion; and HQ, United States Army Recruiting Command (USAREC).
He has served as a Detailed Recruiter, Team Leader, Station Commander, Master Trainer, USAR Operations NCOIC, USAREC Waivers NCOIC, First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant Major and Production and Analysis Sergeant Major.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management from University of Arizona Global Campus. His military education includes the Warrior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Lean Six Sigma-Yellow Belt Course, Army Operations Security Program Manager/Officer Certification Level II Course, Combat Skills Course, Army Recruiter Course, Station Commanders Course, Guidance Counselor and Operations Course, and Sergeant Major Course (Class 74).
