1st Recruiting Brigade Commander

Col. Sapriya McLendon

Colonel Sapriya McLendon earned her ROTC commission through the Johns Hopkins Blue Jay Battalion as a Military Intelligence Officer with a branch detail to the Chemical Corps.

Her previous assignments include serving on the Army G2 Staff at INSCOM and Special Operations, Battalion Executive Officer Army GEOINT Battalion, Joint Intelligence Support Element (JISE) Chief Special Operations Joint Task Force Afghanistan, Executive Officer to Commanding General Special Operations Command Korea, Commander’s Action Group Director, Battalion Commander of the 389th MI Battalion (Special Operations) (Airborne), and a Special Mission Unit J2. She participated in campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq throughout her career.   

COL McLendon’s company grade years were served in various assignments in FORSCOM, including 1-43 Air Defense Artillery Battalion, 525 MI Brigade, 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, and 3rd BDE, 3rd Infantry Division, where she served as a Chemical Staff Officer, the Battalion S2 (Iraq), and Company Commander (Iraq) taking her across South Korea, Fort Bragg, NC, Alaska, and Fort Benning, GA.

Colonel McLendon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence from National Intelligence University, and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. 

COL McLendon’s military awards and decorations include Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal Campaign Star, Iraq Campaign Medal Campaign Star and Korea Defense Service Medal.

She is a proud wife, mother and Soldier.
