Syracuse Battalion Command Sergeant Major

Command Sgt. Maj. Julius M. Williams

Command Sergeant Major Julius M. Williams was born and raised in Angeles City, Philippines. He joined the Army in March 2005, and shipped to Basic Training in Ft Jackson, South Carolina; he completed his Advance Individual Training in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. After completion of initial entry training, CSM Williams was assigned to 29th Signal Battalion Ft. Lewis, Washington. While serving in the 29th Signal Battalion, he deployed to Mosul, Iraq 2005-2006 and Irbil, Iraq 2008-2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his first deployment he serviced and maintained over 50 generators and vehicles. His second tour in Iraq was in the city of Irbil, he was attached in a Joint Network Node responsible for providing and maintaining communication in the Northern Region of Kurdistan, Iraq.

Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Williams’ assignments include: Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; Fort Lewis, Washington; Fort Gordon, Georgia; Mosul, Iraq; Irbil, Iraq; Fort Carson, Colorado; Denver Recruiting Battalion; Los Angeles Recruiting Battalion; Seattle Recruiting Battalion; Ft Bliss; San Antonio Recruiting Battalion; and now Syracuse Recruiting Battalion.

Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Williams has attended numerous military schools and training programs, including: Sergeant Major Academy; First Sergeant Course; Senior Leader Course; Advance Leader Course (Commandants List); Warrior Leader Course; Center Leader Course; Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention Course; Equal Opportunity Leader Course; Master Resilience Training Course; Army Recruiting Course; Center Leader Course; Combat Life Saver Course; A+ Essentials Course; Network+ Level 1 Course; Security+ Course; Server+ Course; and Information Assurance Certificate Program.
