Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Robert E. Eichelberger III hails from Michigan, North Carolina and Maine. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 17 and attended Basic Training at Fort Sill, OK. He completed Advanced Individual Training at Fort Bliss, TX. His assignment locations include Fort Campbell, KY, New Orleans, LA, Houston, TX, Evansville, IN, Fort Knox, KY, Little Rock, AR and Kittery, ME.
CSM Eichelberger completed two 12-month deployments to Iraq as a Convoy Escort Team Leader and Lead Vehicle Commander. He has held multiple USARD leadership positions, ranging from Assistant Station Commander to Interim Command Sergeant Major. He also served as a Senior Small Group leader and Training Developer for Recruiting Senior Leader Course, as well as BN Operations Sergeant Major and USAREC SAMC President.
CSM Eichelberger’s military education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development System. He is a graduate of Pathfinder School, Air Assault School, Rappel Master Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, and Master Resilience Trainer Course. He holds a Masters Degree in Human Resources and Organizational Development from the University of Louisville. He holds professional certifications from the Society of Human Resources Management, Demonstrated Logistics University and Project Management Institute.
CSM Eichelberger's awards and decoration include the Meritorious Service Medal (4th Award), Army Commendation Medal (9th Award), Army Achievement Medal (9th Award), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and Iraqi Campaign Medal (2 Combat Stars). He has earned the Pathfinder badge, Air Assault Badge, Master Recruiter Badge, Gold Recruiter Badge, Senior Army Instructor Badge, Norwegian Ruck March Pin (Silver) and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).
