Command Sgt. Maj. Andrew Bellamy is the Command Sergeant Major of the United States Army New York City Recruiting Battalion. Bellamy is a native of Gun Barrel City, Texas and began his career in the U.S. Army in April 2004. He completed initial entry training in Fort Leonard Wood, M as a Motor Transport Operator (88M) and was assigned to Fort Stewart, Georgia. During his time at Fort Stewart, he went on to deploy to Iraq in 2005, 2007, and 2008 in support of combat operations.
In October of 2008, he entered the recruiting command as a recruiting noncommissioned officer with the Baton Rouge Recruiting Battalion. He was later assigned as a Station Commander in Hattiesburg Recruiting Company and the San Fernando Recruiting Company. In August of 2016, he was chosen to train station commander, as an instructor for the Recruiting and Retention College at Fort Knox Ky. He later assumed responsibilities as the First Sergeant of the Lewisville Recruiting Company, Dallas Recruiting Battalion. His previous assignment was as the Operations Sergeant Major for the Los Angeles Recruiting Battalion.
His military education includes Warrior Leadership Course, Army Recruiting Course, Advance Leadership Course, Station Commander Course, Senior Leadership Course, Master Leadership Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, and 1SG and Company Commander USAREC Course, and he is a Graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy Class 74. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Excelsior University, and a Master of Science in Human Resources and Organizational Development in Leadership from the University of Louisville.
Command Sgt. Maj. Bellamy is decorated with three Meritorious Service Medal, five Army Accommodation Medal, six Army Achievement Medals, seven Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with two stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with four device, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Medal with two device. He earned the Gold Recruiter Badge, and the Senior Instructor Badge.
