Lt. Col. Jade C. Root

Lt. Col. Jade C. Root graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 2008 into the Adjutant General Corps where she attended the Adjutant General Officer Basic Course at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

In addition to a Bachelor of Science degree from West Point, she earned a Master of Business Administration from the George Washington University in 2017 and a Master of Military Studies from the Marine Corps University in 2019.

Commissioned into the Adjutant General Corps, Lt. Col. Root has held a variety of duty positions from the tactical to strategic levels to include Postal Platoon Leader, G1 Essential Personnel Services Chief, Battalion and Brigade Human Resources Officer, Deputy G1, Joint Special Operations J1 Director, Senior Human Resources Officer, Training with Industry with Leidos, and her most recent assignments as the Chief of Requirements Division and Sensitive Activities for the Integrated Personnel and Pay System – Army G1.

Lt. Col. Root has served in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve. Her assignments include: 18th Human Resources Company, 82d Sustainment Brigade, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Enduring Freedom; 82d Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; 81st Civil Affairs Battalion, 85th Civil Affairs Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas; 504th Military Intelligence Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas; 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; Joint Special Operations Command, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina; Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve; Training with Industry with Leidos, Reston, Virginia; Integrated Personnel and Pay System, Headquarters Department of the Army, Arlington, Virginia.

 

Lt. Col. Root’s military schooling includes Marine Command and General Staff College, Adjutant General Captain Career Course, Postal Supervisor Course, Postal Operations Course, Adjutant General Officer Basic Course, and Airborne School.

 

Lt. Col. Root’s awards and decorations include Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 Oak Leaf Cluster), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (Three Oak Leaf Cluster), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War Expeditionary Medal, Global War Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Second Award), Parachutist Badge, Army Staff Identification Badge, and Recruiter Badge.

Lt. Col. Root is also a recipient of the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Horatio Gates Bronze Medal, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).
