Sgt. Alicia Gough was born in Waukegan, Illinois and raised in Burlington, Wisconsin.
She graduated from Wilmot Union High School and then went to pursue a bachelor’s degree from Midland University while competing for their Shotgun Sports Team. In 2018 she earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and Sociology, graduating summa cum laude. Shortly after her graduation there she enlisted into the Army. She joined the Army on September 4, 2018, and shipped to OSUT at Fort Leonard Wood. After completion of 31B (Military Police) OSUT, Gough was assigned to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit’s Shotgun Team.
Gough was introduced to trapshooting by her father, Peter Dale, in 2009. She has won numerous Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) awards since she began shooting, including state and national championships. In 2016, she travelled with USA Shooting to Cyprus to earn a MQS at a world cup in March. She was also successful in the ACUI National Collegiate circuit while attending Midland University. In May 2019, Gough represented USA Shooting at a world cup in Korea, earning her MQS there to be able to compete for the 2020 Olympic Team. She won a bronze medal with her partner, SSG Seth Inman, at the 2020 USA Shooting Spring Selection match. At the National level match hosted by USA Shooting in the fall of 2020, she secured a silver medal in Colorado Springs.
Her military awards include Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, A Co. 795th MP BN Class 22-18 Second Platoon Honor Graduate.
Her military schools include: One Station Unit Training - 31B (Military Police), Henry Caro Basic Leaders Course Fort Benning, GA.
