Meet Your Recruiter - Staff Sgt. Fredrick Jenkins

By Hunter West USAREC Public Affairs

Staff Sgt. Fredrick Jenkins, a Montgomery, Alabama native, serves as a Recruiter at the Fort Payne Army Recruiting Station in Fort Payne, Alabama. He was recently recognized by the U.S. Army Recruiting Command leadership as one of the standout performers in the command.

In August 2016, Jenkins began his Army journey by enlisting as a 31B Military Police Officer. He attributes his choice of Military Occupational Specialist to his love of the law enforcement field, “The most enjoyment I got from doing this job was helping people in need.”

Jenkins was first interested in joining the Army because of the challenges and opportunities Soldiers are given. A strong belief in serving his country and protecting the United States interests also played into his decision, as well as having the ability to provide a better life for his wife and kids through the benefits the Army provides Soldiers.

After seven years serving as a military police officer, Jenkins transitioned to becoming a member of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command in December 2023. This shift began with Jenkins being nominated for Recruiting Duty as a Department of the Army Selected Recruiter, but he is currently working towards changing his MOS to 79R Army Recruiter.

Jenkins has earned the Non-commissioned Officer (NCO) of the 4th Quarter for FY 24 and the NCO of the 1st Quarter for FY 25, and The Fort Payne Army Recruiting Station FY 24 NCO of the Year since beginning his Recruiting career. When asked what opportunities the USAREC provides him, Jenkins shares that “being able to make a positive impact in the community and help change people’s life by helping them begin a successful career in the Army.”

As he continues his Army career, Jenkins has goals to become a company first sergeant and began studying for his bachelor’s degree in sports administration at Liberty University in 2022.

“My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my wife, and my kids are my biggest motivation in becoming the person that I am today.” Jenkins said.

When not recruiting, Jenkins has many interests, including fishing, hiking, traveling, working out, and spending time with his wife and children.
