Record Number of Army Reservists Enlist as the Army Meets Its Annual Recruiting Goal

By Luke Petrovich Milwaukee Recruiting Battalion

41 local civilians joined the U.S. Army Reserve in May, the highest total contracted through the U.S. Army Milwaukee Recruiting Battalion in one recruiting month since 2021. By joining the U.S. Army Reserve, soldiers choose their part-time military role like nursing specialist or electrician, and commit to serving one weekend a month and two weeks per year.

The U.S. Army also recently met its fiscal year 2026 recruiting goal for active duty contracts with more than 61,500 future soldiers stepping up to serve our nation. This is the second year in a row the Army accomplished its recruiting mission with months to spare.
U.S. Army Milwaukee Recruiting Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Elliot Proctor reflected on this achievement stating, “From free tuition to up to $50,000 enlistment bonuses, more and more people are learning how the Army can provide you with the tools and opportunities to create the future you want.”

Master Sgt. Anna Stephens, a Wisconsinite who has served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 17 years added, “Serving in the Army Reserve has been the perfect fit for me and my family. The people you meet, the places you go- I wouldn’t trade my Army experience for the world.”

The U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion Milwaukee enlists the highest quality men and women into the Army and Army Reserve from the Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to sustain our all-volunteer force and ensure the readiness of our Nation.
