Sergeant 1st Class Crody was born in Cotopaxi, CO. He graduated from Cotopaxi High School in 2005. He enlisted in the Army in May 2005 and completed Basic and Infantry Training at Fort Benning, Ga. Upon graduation he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, as a rifleman/SDM and HHC sniper section leader. He deployed to Iraq in 2006- 2008, as well as Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010. He joined the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Service Rifle Team in March 2011 as a shooter/instructor.
Crody has used his combat experience to become a vital member of the unit’s instructor program. He is a lead instructor within Instructor Training Group and is a competing member for the Service Rifle Team. SFC Crody coached the service rifle section’s long range teams in 2013 to three wining long range team matches at Camp Perry, Ohio. He has served as a firing team member of the winning 2015 10-Man Team, 2015 winning 6 Man Team. 2015 he was the Inter-Service Long-Range Champion, 2016 National Winner 1000yd In Both the Porter and Farr Trophy Matches. Qualified Presidents 100 in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, Earned his Distinguished Marksmanship Badge in 2014
