Lt. Col. Kevin Groppel

In 2001 Lt. Col. Kevin Groppel was commissioned as a Military Intelligence Officer upon completion of the Army Officer Candidate School. After completing the Military Intelligence Officer's Basic Course, he was assigned to 3-327th Infantry Battalion at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served as the Assistant Battalion Intelligence Officer. He later served as a Platoon Leader and Executive Officer for A Co, 311 Military Intelligence Battalion, 101st Airborne Division supporting 327th Infantry Brigade.
Lieutenant Colonel Groppel returned to Fort Campbell in June 2007 and served as the 506th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Assistant Intelligence Officer. He later deployed and assumed command of the B Co. 4 BSTB, 506th BCT, 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan.  

Following an assignment to Afghanistan as a planner in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Joint Command in 2013, Lieutenant Colonel Groppel was assigned to Fort Bliss Texas where last served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for 1st Armored Division.

His awards and qualifications include the Air Assault Badge, two Bronze Star Medals, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals, and four Army Achievement Medals.

Groppel deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, Operation Enduring Freedom in 2008, 2013, and 2015.
